With a nominal capacity of 15,072 TEUs, the CMA CGM BRAZIL becomes the largest vessel to ever call the port of Aqaba. The arrival of the CMA CGM BRAZIL in Aqaba, on Tuesday, attests to the commitment of Aqaba Container Terminal (ACT), operated by APM Terminals and CMA CGM Group to actively support the development of the economic activity in the Kingdom of Jordan.
With 12 monthly calls to the port of Aqaba, CMA CGM is one of the main shipping and logistics Groups in Jordan, offering end-to-end solutions and different services connecting the country to the rest of the world.
Commenting on this occasion, the CEO of the ACT, Steven Yoogalingam said: “The large investments made by ACT over the years allow today the terminal to receive and operate vessels among the largest in the world. The arrival of CMA CGM BRAZIL to the port is a momentous occasion for Aqaba as it reaffirms its position as the preferred gateway into the Levant region.
CMA CGM is one of the largest shipping lines to capitalise on the opportunity of using Aqaba as a competitive gateway to Iraq and their volume growth in Aqaba this year is nothing short of impressive.” The volume of containers discharged at ACT for Iraq have grown this year by a staggering 380 per cent compared to last year.
