AMMAN — The Czech Republic has a stake in helping to stabilise the Jordanian economy as it is one of the most secure countries in the Middle East and has a suitable investment environment, Czech Minister of Industry and Trade Marta Nováková said on Tuesday.
Her remarks came during a ceremony inaugurating the launch of the Czech-Jordanian Business Forum, which was organised by the Jordan Europe Business Association (JEBA) in cooperation with Czech embassy in Amman, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The Czech minister said her country appreciates and respects Jordanian efforts at alleviating the impacts of the refugee crisis and restoring regional economic ties, stressing that the Czech Republic is interested in supporting the Kingdom’s economy along with improving its competitiveness.
“Due to its strategic positioning in the region, Jordan has become a vital economic pillar,” Nováková said, adding that Czech companies and investors are willing to work with their Jordanian counterparts to take advantage of the opportunities in the Kingdom and launch “real”, solid projects.
She said that the direct flights between Amman and Prague, which were launched last year, will also help forge a stronger strategic economic partnership, as well as increase the number of tourists to the Kingdom.
Secretary General of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply Yousef Shamali said that the business forum reflected the two countries’ keenness to bolster relations.
Jordan has implemented a series of reforms to support the country’s economy despite the challenges from regional situations, he said, adding that the Kingdom has signed free trade agreements to improve Jordanian exports in international markets.
