‘Korean Film Days’ Festival to kick off Monday

AMMAN — The 15th edition of “Korean Film Days” will kick off on Monday, December 6 at 7pm at the Rainbow Theatre in Jabal Amman. The event, organised by the Royal Film Commission and the Korean Embassy in Jordan, will last until Wednesday, December 8, according to a statement from the organisers.
“The Book of Fish”, “Tunnel”, and “The King’s Letters”, will be shown on during the festival. The Book of Fish is a 2021 126-minute historical drama that tells the story of scholar Chung Yak-Jeon who is exiled to Heuk-san Island. He is amazed by the ‘wonders of various sea creatures’ on the island and decides to write a book about the sea.
He meets Chang-dae and asks him for help to write a book and a guide to help him study Confucianism, according to the statement. The movie won numerous prizes.
Tunnel is a 2016 thriller/drama. It tells the story of Jung-soo, the manager of a car company, who is on his way home when the poorly-constructed tunnel he is driving through collapses, leaving him trapped. The only thing he can see around him is concrete wreckage, and all he has to sustain himself is 78 per cent of his phone’s battery, two bottles of water, and his daughter’s birthday cake. The film also won number prizes.
The King’s Letters is a 2019 historical drama. Set in the late Joseon dynasty, the film tells of King Sejong and his insistement on his biggest goal: the invention of original letters that can be read and written by all people. But courtiers, who want to dominate the knowledge and the power, are against his will and discourage his belief. One day, frustrated King Sejong hears about a phonogram expert and secretly brings him into the palace, according to the statement.
The film received Best Supporting Actress Award at the Korean Film Producers Association Awards, among other awards, according to the statement.
