AMMAN — Inflation in the first quarter of 2015 dropped by 0.9 per cent compared to the same period last year, the Department of Statistics (DoS) said Saturday.
The decline is due to the drop in prices of transportation (16.3 per cent), fuel and lighting (11.6 per cent), and vegetables and legumes (8 per cent), DoS said.
Item groups that registered an increase in prices are rents (5.8 per cent), fruits and nuts (11.3 per cent) and cigarettes (6.2 per cent).
