AMMAN — Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) personnel have arrested several suspected drug dealers and confiscated “large amounts” of narcotics, firearms and ammunition, in addition to stolen vehicles”, in a series of raids in east Amman and the Central Badia.

After gathering intelligence, AND identified nine houses used by the suspected dealers to store and sell drugs, which they subsequently raided, arresting 12 suspects, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

During the raids, AND personnel seized a total of 13kg of synthetic cannabis (locally known as joker), 10,000 small bags filled with joker, 2kg of joker powder, a palm-sized bag of hashish, a quantity of pills, five firearms and ammunition.

In a raid on one of the houses,  AND officers found 6kg of joker and 10,000 small bags filled with the same drug ready for sale, in addition to chemicals used in its production.

Four suspects in the Central Badia were arrested at different times after officers received a tip-off about their locations.
