12 traffic cameras in Amman to begin recording violations in February

AMMAN — The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) will start operating 12 recently installed surveillance cameras in mid-February, Mohammad Faouri, director of joint management at GAM, said Monday.
Faouri added that the cameras are aimed at increasing road safety, noted that GAM has launched an awareness campaign in cooperation with the Central Traffic Department, according to a GAM statement sent to The Jordan Times.
The cameras will record violations such as speeding, driving in the wrong lane, using mobile phones while driving and crossing red lights.
