158,263 families received in-kind support in 2023

AMMAN — A total of 158,263 families benefitted from the Ministry of Social Development's in-kind and cash assistance in 2023. According to a ministry report cited by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, on Sunday, the beneficiaries included 2,487 families who received emergency aid worth a total of JD266,708, as well as 94,300 families benefitted from makruma (Royal benefaction), amounting to JD8,618,500, and 49,571 families received assistance through shopping vouchers, amounting to JD147,130. A total of 11,905 families received assistance from foreign organisations, associations and donors, the report revealed. The report also highlighted the launch of 30 e-services during the past year, including initial licensing of nurseries, annual renewal of nursery licenses, and the registration of local and foreign branch associations, among others. Among the ministry's achievements was the publication of 14 laws in the Official Gazette, covering the Child Rights Law No. 17 of 2022, regulations on care for the elderly, alternative housing, support services for persons with intellectual disabilities, administrative regulatory system for the Ministry of Social Development, among others.
