AMMAN — Deputising for Her Majesty Queen Rania, Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Mohammad Al Khalaileh on Saturday attended the opening of the 17th edition of the Women’s International Hashemite Competition for Memorisation of the Holy Koran.
The competition, organised under Royal patronage, aligns with Jordan's commitment to supporting Koranic centres and those who teach and learn the Koran, Khalaileh said. In addition to the ministry's centres and clubs, there are multiple associations that contribute to teaching and memorising the Koran, highlighting the importance of Koranic culture, he added. This year, individuals from 39 countries are participating in this competition, showcasing interest and appreciation for the Koran as a “guide in life”, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
