93 juveniles benefit from alternative penalties in first half of year

AMMAN — The Social Development Ministry, during the first half of the year, has applied alternative penalties on 93 juveniles in judicial rulings.

Head of the Juvenile and Community Security Directorate at the ministry Mahmoud Hrout told the Jordan News Agency, Petra, on Wednesday that 55 of the juveniles were put under the supervision of behavioural advisers at the ministry for various periods.

Another 22 were sentenced to public service at various institutions instead of detention at juvenile centres. The remaining 16 underage youth were able to serve their sentences at their homes, while periodically reporting to juvenile police.
