Activists in Irbid, Karak call for reform, fighting corruption

By Petra - Dec 20,2014 - Last updated at Dec 20,2014

IRBID — Participants in a peaceful march held in Irbid after Friday prayers reiterated their calls for drafting a “modern” elections law.

During the march, organised by Islamists and popular movements, participants stressed the need for the law to pave the way for partisan parliamentary governments.

They also called for fighting corruption and releasing imprisoned popular movement activists, while condemning the Israeli attacks on Al Aqsa Mosque.

Also on Friday, activists of popular movements in Karak’s Faqou District called for expediting efforts to combat corruption.

During a sit-in, they also urged the government not to raise the prices of electricity and to look for alternatives to Israeli gas.
