AMMAN — Jordan's Permanent Representative to the Arab League Amjad Adaileh on Monday participated in a symposium at Arab League Secretariat General Headquarters commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Palestinian Nakbeh (catastrophe).
During the event, which saw the participation of permanent representatives to the Arab League and Palestinian political leaders, Adaileh said that continuing to commemorate the Nakbeh provides evidence of the injustices suffered by Palestinians and their adherence to their rights, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The just solution to this issue lies in ending the occupation and establishing an independent Palestinian state in the Palestinian territories, with East Jerusalem as its capital on the lines of June 4, 1967, he said.
The Kingdom's representative stressed the importance of the Palestine refugee portfolio, which remains one of the most important pillars of the Palestinian issue, a fundamental requirement for its resolution and a prominent theme in the process of the Palestinian people's suffering from the illegal occupation.
Solutions to Palestine refugee issue should be conducted in accordance with relevant international references and resolutions, including Resolution 194, to guarantee the right to return and compensation, he added.
Jordan, which always stands with Palestinians, constantly stresses these unaltered positions and calls on international stakeholders, mainly UNRWA, to offer assistance and services to Palestinian refugees, Adaileh said.
In this regard, Adaileh called on the international community to enhance efforts to provide financial support to UNRWA to guarantee its ability to continue offering services to Palestinians refugees as per its UN mandate.
