AMMAN — Aiming to address the challenges facing the agricultural sector, Jusoor Agriculture Accelerator is to equip over 100 participants with agricultural knowledge through providing mentorship and technical assistance.
Jusoor is an international nongovernmental organisation and a leading global actor in educational and entrepreneurial programmes for Syrian and host communities’ children and youth, according to its website.
In an interview with The Jordan Times on Thursday, Entrepreneurship Programme Manager Ziena Abu Dalbouh said: “The programme supports startups in Jordan and Lebanon, to reach investment readiness by providing solutions to the most pressing agriculture-related challenges in the two countries and the region.”
Abu Dalbouh also pointed out that there would be over 100 beneficiaries, representing 35 startups.
With the challenges facing the typical agriculture scene in Jordan, including water scarcity, and the inefficiency of agricultural production, Abu Dalbouh said that Jordan and the Levant are in need of innovative approaches that strengthen agricultural innovation.
Jusoor Agriculture Accelerator is to provide tailored trainings, whereas it has conducted an in-depth assessment of the current agricultural landscape and has identified the following topics: Agri-production, agri-trading, agri-finance, agriculture technology and related services, hydroponics, aquaculture, horticulture and apiculture.
During the three-month programme, selected teams will receive 1:1 mentorship and training sessions, legal consultations, identity creation and design support, according to a statement sent to The Jordan Times.
The statement added that at the end of the programme, teams will pitch their innovative ideas and winning teams will receive an equity-free money prize of $20,000.
