AMMAN — Azeri Ambassador to Jordan Rasim Rzayev in an embassy statement on Tuesday highlighted the importance of His Majesty King Abdullah’s visit to Azerbaijan upon an invitation by President Ilham Aliyev.
Rzayev said that, while King Abdullah’s visit is not the first, it is the most important due to developments in regional and international affairs and its purpose of enhancing bilateral relations, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. The ambassador said that His Majesty will hold several meetings on the sidelines of the visit, focusing on enhancing Amman-Baku cooperation in various economic, commercial and investment fields.
The diplomat added that Jordan was among the first countries to recognise the independence of Azerbaijan in 1991, noting that diplomatic ties began in 1993. He also highlighted that the two countries have signed some 40 agreements to boost cooperation.
