Amman advances in 2021 Global Mayors Challenge

AMMAN — Amman will continue into the final stage of the 2021 Global Mayors Challenge, an international competition organised by Bloomberg Philanthropies, focusing on identifying and accelerating innovative ideas and actions in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to a Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) statement, out of the 50 finalists, 15 cities will be awarded technical and financial assistance to implement their ground-breaking ideas in early 2022.
Amman has suggested the use of "reachability maps" to improve the city's emergency response and enhance the objectives of sustainable development, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra. A total of 631 cities from 99 countries applied in the 2021 challenge, out of which 50 reached the final stage.
