Amman, Istanbul chambers of commerce ink agreement to strengthen cooperation

AMMAN — The Amman and Istanbul chambers of commerce on Wednesday signed a cooperation agreement to bolster bilateral relations and support economic and trade exchange.

The agreement signed by Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC) Chairman Khalil Haj Tawfiq and President of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Sekib Avdagiç, aims at encouraging, improving and easing service and trade cooperation, as well as establishing an effective line of communication between the two sides.

Under the agreement, the two chambers will ease and expand economic and industrial cooperation as well as share information about various sectors, markets and job opportunities in Amman and Istanbul, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The ACC and ICC agreed to encourage investment and share advances in technology through joint projects that would benefit both two sides, according to Petra.

The two chambers also agreed to provide each other support for economic events symposiums, training courses, conferences and to conduct joint studies.

Also on Wednesday, Amman Mayor Yousef Shawarbeh met with the Turkish delegation during a separate meeting where he highlighted the advanced state of Jordanian-Turkish economic relations, pointing to the recently launched “Amman Bus” project, Petra reported.

The guest delegation expressed their appreciation for the Greater Amman Municipality’s executive plans to improve the transportation sector's services during the meeting, which was attended by Turkish Ambassador to Jordan Murat Karagöz, Amman City Director Ahmad Malkawi and representatives from the company operating Amman Bus project.
