AMMAN — Ukrainian Ambassador to Jordan Sergiy Pasko said that Kiev-Amman relations have seen significant improvement in all fields.

During a press conference on Friday on the 100th anniversary of Ukraine's day of unity, the ambassador said that Kiev and Amman see eye to eye on regional and international issues, emphasising Jordan's role in achieving peace and security in the Middle East.

He also said that the trade exchange between the Kingdom and Ukraine reached $160 million during 2018, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Pasko said that the Ukrainian exports to Jordan amounted to $147 million in 2018 while the Jordanian exports to his country stood at $13 million, according to Petra.

He also said that the total number of the Jordanian students who obtained visa for education purposes in Ukraine increased from 474 in 2017 to 538 in 2018, adding that there are 5,000 Ukrainians living in Jordan.

The ambassador stressed the need for opening a Jordanian Embassy in Kiev, citing the growing relations between the two countries and the number of Jordanians living in Ukraine.

Ukraine's unity day marks the anniversary of the unification of eastern and western Ukraine in 1919. It is celebrated on January 22 every year.
