Amman street named after Ukrainian poet

AMMAN — The embassy of Ukraine in Amman on Tuesday expressed its appreciation of a Greater Amman Municipality council decision to name a street after Taras Shevchenko (1814-1861), a renowned Ukrainian poet.
The street is located in the Sahel area near the 7th Circle.
Stressing the importance of the step as a means to boost bilateral relations, the embassy said this is the first street named after the poet in an Arab city.

Ukraine has thanked the Greater Amman Municipality for naming a street in the capital after poet Taras Shevchenko, according to a Ukraine embassy statement released Monday.
A memorial plaque honouring the Ukrainian poet and artist Taras Shevchenko was installed Thursday evening on the outer wall of the Ukrainian embassy in Amman, located on the street that bears his name.
The Ukrainian embassy on Monday issued a statement inviting Ukrainian citizens currently residing in the Kingdom to vote in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
