AMMAN — Employees of an anti-vagrancy team for the Social Development Ministry have been allegedly attacked by an adult beggar with a knife, while team members were trying to arrest him and other vagrants near a traffic light in Amman’s Deir Ghbar neighbourhood, the ministry said on Thursday.
While trying to arrest the main beggar, others allegedly threw stones towards the ministry’s employees, attacked and swore at them before escaping, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. One of the vagrants reportedly called the ministry’s hotline and threatened to kill the employees and swore at them again. The ministry filed a complaint with the public prosecutor office to maintain the safety and security of its anti-vagrancy personnel.
