AMMAN —Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) Commissioner for Environment and Tourism Nidal Majali on Saturday referred the oil spill case in Aqaba to the Public Prosecutor at the First Instance Court in Aqaba, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The spill damaged a number of berths at the Aqaba container terminal and its passenger terminal, in addition to a number of beaches located within the marine reserve in southern Aqaba, he said.

Eleven tonnes of heavy engine-fuel leaked from the ship, he noted, adding that ASEZA, in cooperation with the Jordan Maritime Commission and Prince Hamzah Centre, contained the spill.
