Archimandrite Atallah reiterates support for Hashemite Custodianship

AMMAN — Archimandrite Christoforos Atallah on Saturday reiterated support for the Hashemite Custodianship over holy sites in Jerusalem, describing it as “legitimate” on both the “regional and national” levels.

His Majesty King Abdullah is supported on all levels, he said in a statement carried by the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

Atallah reaffirmed that Christians of the Holy Land and Mashreq (the Levant) support this custodianship and pledge to God and the King to preserve and sustain it on the ground.

He also referred to the role of the Patriarchate of the Greek Orthodox in Jerusalem in supporting Jordan’s custodianship, as a national a local church and its spiritual, legal and international legitimacy in its capacity as the historical and legitimate owner of the most of the holy Christian sites in Jordan and Palestine.
