AMMAN — The Arab Renewable Energy Commission (AREC) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the American Solar Car Challenge Foundation to enhance innovative activities aimed at advancing vocational education in the Arab world.

This initiative also seeks to contribute to sustainable development and create productive green job opportunities for fresh graduates, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The MoU, signed in Dallas, Texas, by the Founder of the American Solar Car Challenge Foundation Lehman Marks, and AREC Secretary-General Mohammad Taani, underscores a significant partnership, where this collaboration focuses on educational innovation and sustainable development.

Marks praised Jordan's significant role in leading green education and innovation in the Middle East, highlighting Jordan's experience with renewable energy and electric vehicles.

Taani stressed the importance of the memo in enhancing Jordan's efforts in creative and innovative technical and vocational green education, and in generating more job opportunities.

He referred to the international recognition of Jordan's pioneering positions in sustainable development as a model of stability and energy security.

Meanwhile, the foundation awarded Taani the title of "Grand Marshal" and the "Shield of Friendship," making him the first Arab to receive this title in Texas.

The international solar car race is expected to be organised in Jordan in cooperation between the commission and the foundation in September 2025, with the participation of teams from several countries.
