AMMAN — Chairman of the Joint Chiefs-of-Staff Gen. Mashal Al Zaben on Tuesday received Chief-of-Staff of the UAE Armed Forces Lt. Gen. Hamad Mohammad Thani Al Rumaithi and discussed ways to boost cooperation and coordination between the two countries’ armies.
Rumaithi stressed the UAE’s position in standing with the Kingdom in facing regional challenges.
A UAE F-16 squadron has been moved to Jordan from where it started on Tuesday air strikes against the so-called Islamic State terrorist group.
Zaben, who is also His Majesty King Abdullah’s military adviser, asked his counterpart to convey King Abdullah’s, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army, greetings and appreciation for the UAE’s leadership, government and people for their “sincere” sympathies with Jordanians.
Senior military officials from both countries also attended the meeting.
