AMMAN — The army on Saturday night destroyed a jeep that tried to illegally enter the Kingdom from Iraq, a Jordan Armed Forces (JAF) source said Sunday.
Warning shots were fired at the speeding vehicle, but were ignored and the driver continued to move towards the border, the source told the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
In line with the rules of engagement, the army destroyed the vehicle, according to the JAF source.
In a separate incident, the source said Royal Naval Force (RNF) personnel also foiled an attempt by a speedboat to illegally infiltrate Jordanian waters from a neighbouring state.
The infiltrators, whose nationality was not disclosed, ignored the warning shots fired by the RNF and continued to approach, forcing security personnel to shoot at the vessel and halt its advance.
The two Arab nationals found on the boat are currently being interrogated, according to the JAF source.
