AMMAN — Audit Bureau President Radhi Hamadeen on Sunday emphasised the importance of the role of the bureau as a monitoring body for the Parliament.
During a virtual meeting with the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI), Hamadeen highlighted the bureau’s operations, including the audits conducted and the resulting reports, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
He also emphasised the need for enhancing cooperation with the government, regulatory bodies and law enforcement agencies in decisions relating to restoring illegally disbursed funds and the correction of violations.
A violation remains unresolved until it is legally rectified with appropriate legal measures, he noted.
Responding to questions from participants, Hamadeen addressed a range of issues, including external relations with international organisations, cooperation with judicial and tax authorities, money laundering concerns and the recovery of illegally disbursed funds.
The UNICRI, based in Italy’s Turin, is one of the six independent United Nations institutes focusing on criminal justice and crime prevention. The Institute provides specialised technical assistance worldwide to help UN Member States formulate and implement crime prevention and criminal justice policies.
