AMMAN — Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) agents in Aqaba foiled an attempt to smuggle 700,000 narcotic pills to a neighbouring country on Wednesday, according to a Public Security Department (PSD) statement.
After AND agents received a tip about suspects attempting to smuggle drugs from Aqaba, they found the narcotics hidden in a vehicle carrying Arab licence plates.
The case is still under investigation.
In another case, AND agents thwarted an attempt to smuggle 36 kilogrammes of hashish by tracking down the suspect in the Kingdom’s southwest region while he was transporting the narcotics.
The authorities detained the suspect and seized the hashish.
An investigation is under way.
