AMMAN — On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Jordan and China, a book highlighting Jordanian-Chinese relations in various areas was launched on Monday.
The book, titled “We and You: Stories of China and Jordan”, was written by 24 authors from both countries and its introduction includes articles by Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and Wang Yi, China’s foreign minister.
In his article, Safadi said Jordanian-Sino ties are based on mutual respect and cooperation, noting that Jordan supports the One China policy and the “One Belt, One Road” initiative.
He noted that Jordan joined the China-led Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, adding that China has been supporting development projects in Jordan and has been supportive in regards to regional issues including those in Palestine.
In his article in the book, the Chinese foreign minister stressed that his country’s ties with the Arab world are deep-rooted, expressing China’s eagerness to enhance cooperation.
He also emphasised the key role to be played by Arab nations in the One Belt, One Road initiative.
Launched in 2013, the “One Belt One Road” initiative seeks to connect the Eurasian continent by land, sea, air and cyberspace. China has built 46 overseas cooperation zones with 17 countries along “One Belt, One Road”, adding convenience to the flow of goods and capital across borders.
At the book launching ceremony, Chinese Ambassador to Jordan Pan Weifang said that the launch was part of the embassy’s celebration of the 40 years of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Jordan and China.
“Ties are excellent between the two sides and we will continue to witness more agreements signed between the two countries,” the ambassador said, adding that Jordan is a “key partner” in the “One Belt, One Road” initiative.
Jordan’s Minister of Health Mahmoud Sheyyab stressed on Jordan’s willingness to witness increased collaboration with China and voiced his appreciation for China’s support to Jordan at different levels and in addressing the burdens of hosting large numbers of Syrian refugees.
The Jordanian official also commended China’s stances in promoting world peace.
