AMMAN — Minister of Youth Fares Braizat on Tuesday met with Assistant Secretary General and Head of Social Affairs Sector for the Arab League Haifa Abu Ghazaleh to discuss ways to enhance youth ties between the two sides.

Braizat said that Jordanian youth "receive Royal attention" and that the youth sector is a "top priority" on the national level, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The ministry is "devoted to empowering youth in various economic, political, social and cultural areas with the utmost attention" by introducing programmes and holding events that fall within the themes of the National Youth Strategy for 2019-2025, he said.

Like other Arab youth, young Jordanians are facing challenges, at the top of which are financial and economic ones. In response, the ministry has launched programmes that empower young people in the field of entrepreneurship, Braizat added.

He noted that, because of the COVID-19 pandemic's impact on most areas of life in Jordan, the ministry has also digitalised the majority of its programmes to keep pace with the current situation.

Braizat noted that the Youth Committee at the Council of Arab Ministers of Youth and Sports is continuing its meetings via videoconference to discuss and arrange joint programmes this year amid the pandemic.

For her part, Abu Ghazaleh lauded the Youth Ministry's efforts and the role of the minister, who is also deputy head of the executive office and head of the technical youth committee assisting the Council of Arab Ministers of Youth and Sports.

The Arab League "will offer all its capabilities" to establish programmes that serve Arab youth during the current circumstances and will be present next week during a meeting of the Council of Arab Ministers of Youth and Sports via videoconference.
