Cabinet approves amended by-laws of tourist vehicle licensing, environment

AMMAN — The Cabinet on Tuesday approved a by-law amending the licensing of car rental companies for 2017, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. Under the amended by-law, the operating lifespan of the tourist vehicles was set to six years from the date of manufacture.
Minister of Transport Jamil Mujahed said that the decision aims to raise the efficiency of the sector while achieving a balance between securing road safety and being economically viable for the companies.
The Council of Ministers has also approved a by-law amending the administrative regualations of the Ministry of Environment for the year 2017.
The amended by-law seeks to facilitate the ministry’s work by establishing directorates and units that will work with the technical departments specialised in environmental issues.
