AMMAN — The Cabinet has decided to waive fines on unpaid taxes and fees, if taxpayers settle their dues, Finance Minister Umayya Toukan said Tuesday.
He added that the decision covers unpaid dues to the Income Tax and Sales Department, the Jordan Customs Department, municipalities, public universities and the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority.
Finance Ministry Secretary General Ezeddin Kanakriyeh said the decision, effective immediately, is expected to generate JD150-200 million, an amount listed among the draft 2015 budget law’s assumptions.
