AMMAN — Canadian Ambassador to Jordan Bruno Saccomani and Gendarmerie Department Director Gen. Hussein Hawatmeh on Tuesday attended a ceremony in Mafraq to hand over three new barracks, a kitchen and a dining hall funded by Canada.
The facilities were constructed for the Gendarmerie Department personnel serving at the Zaatari Refugee Camp, according to a statement sent to The Jordan Times.
The UN Office for Project Services implemented the project. The facilities allow gendarmes to stay closer to the camp, allowing easier access and faster response time, to increase the safety and security of camp staff and residents, the statement said. The force provides security to the camp and to the local and international relief organisations working there.
