Car accident kills 5-year-old in Irbid; child drowns in Zarqa

AMMAN — A five-year-old boy died on Monday when he was hit by a car in Irbid, 80km north of Amman, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. The speeding car hit him while he was crossing the street after the school bus dropped him off, Petra quoted a security source as saying.
In Zarqa, 22km east of Amman, another five-year-old child drowned in a pool to collect rainwater. Also on Monday, seven girls were injured when their bus overturned in Mafraq, 80km northeast of Amman. Mafraq Hospital Director Samir Mashagbeh told Petra that the injured are in fair condition.
