Cheque fraud scam worth JD1.25m foiled, 2 arrested

AMMAN — Criminal Investigation Department (CID) personnel have foiled an attempted fraud by two people who tried to buy a plot of land with a villa on it in Amman using a bad cheque of JD1.25 million.
The Public Security Directorate’s spokesperson said that CID agents received a tip-off on the case and identified the two suspects in possession of the bad cheque, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The spokesperson called on the public to follow legal procedures while trading real estate and ensure the status of cheques to avoid fraud.
