AMMAN — The Ministry of Government Communication, in cooperation with the Hussein Fund for Excellence (HFE) and the Jordan Media Institute (JMI), on Wednesday signed an agreement to implement the third phase of the “Media and Information Education” project.

Muhannad Mubaidin, Minister of Government Communications and government official spokesperson emphasised that the agreement will have an important role in enhancing the skills of the participants in the field of media and information education, as well as enrich their ability to effectively convey acquired media knowledge to the local community, particularly in strengthening society against the risks of rumours and misinformation.

The agreement aims to facilitate training workshops focusing on the principles of media and information education.  The target group includes young people aged 16 to 25 from various governorates in the Kingdom.

Under the agreement, the HFE will provide support and funding for the three-month training workshops for a group of 75 young individuals, while the JMI will conduct five media and information literacy workshops in different governorates, each lasting three days.

The HFE, an initiative of the banking sector in Jordan, is a non-profit organisation established in 1999 to promote creativity, excellence and sustainable development in Jordan.

The Ministry of Government Communication is responsible for overseeing the National Initiative for Media and Information Education, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
