Company registrations increase by 5% in first half of 2024

AMMAN — The number of registered companies in the Kingdom went up by 5 per cent in the first half of 2024 compared with the same period in 2023, reaching 3,028 companies. Of these, 2,188 are limited liability companies, accounting for 72.2 per cent of registered companies, with registered capital exceeding JD48.3 million, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. The total registered capital increased by 6 per cent compared with the same period in 2023, totalling more than JD113.8 million. The number of companies that were dissolved or had their registration cancelled decreased by 21 per cent compared with 2023, with 949 companies compared with 1,202 firms in 2023. Meanwhile, 435 companies increased their capital, totalling some JD386 million. In comparison, 120 other companies reduced their capital by about JD46 million, and the net increase in capital during the first six months of this year amounted to around JD339 million.
