Conference held on helping women in conflict zones

AMMAN — The Arab Women Organisation (AWO) on Wednesday held a national conference titled “Awareness of Jordan national plan on applying UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on women, peace, and security”.
The conference aimed to contribute to preparing the second phase of the Jordan national plan to apply UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on women, peace, and security, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The resolution is related to helping survivors of violence in conflict areas. AWO President Randa Qsous praised the support of the Catalan Association for Peace and the Spanish government and the AWO’s efforts to combat discrimination and violence against women.
President of the Catalan Association for Peace Xavier Cutillas said that the economic and social impacts of the pandemic on women were severe. He stressed the importance of AWO’s role in helping violence survivors in refugee host communities in Mafraq and Irbid.
