AMMAN — Deputising for Prime Minister Bisher Al Khasawneh, Agriculture Minister Khalid Hneifat on Thursday inaugurated the cooperative agricultural summer products festival at Al Hussein Parks.
Hneifat, in the presence of several ministers, ambassadors and representatives of international organisations, said that the festival is part of efforts to market local agricultural products and industries and to enhance food security, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
He also said that the partnership between the ministry and the Jordan Cooperative Corporation (JCC) provided an opportunity to 100 cooperative associations to participate in the event with seasonal produce and various handicrafts that will benefit rural communities and families.
Hneifat said that the ministry has directed a large part of its loan plan for 2021 and 2022 to support food manufacturing and entrepreneurship projects that support women and youth empowerment.
JCC Director General Abdulfattah Shalabi said that the festival offers Jordanian family farms an opportunity to market agricultural products, stressing the importance for all to participate in the event to support the sustainability of rural households.
The festival will continue until Saturday night and includes 100 cooperative associations with 300 participants, and is envisioned to achieve added value for some 1,000 Jordanian families.
