Council recommends Mahafzah as new UJ president

AMMAN — The Higher Education Council (HEC) has recommended appointing Azmi Mahafzah as the new president of the University of Jordan (UJ) to succeed Ekhleif Tarawneh, Al Rai daily reported on Saturday.
According to the Universities Law, a president of a university is appointed under a Royal Decree for four years, based on a recommendation from the HEC. Higher Education Minister Labib Khadra said Mahafzah is UJ’s interim president and the most able to continue with UJ’s current projects and resolve outstanding issues.
