AMMAN — The Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) and security bodies “will not tolerate any violation” of the comprehensive 48-hour curfew that will go into effect at Thursday midnight, and no compromise will be shown, Brig. Gen. Mazen Faraiah, director of operations at the National Centre for Security and Crisis Management's crisis cell, said on Thursday.
During a live phone call to Radio Jordan, Faraiah said that the comprehensive curfew also applies to holders of movement e-passes, with a number of exceptions to be granted only to workers in vital sectors, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The move aims at enabling epidemiological investigation teams to implement their tasks effectively, he said, stressing that more comprehensive curfews will be implemented in the coming days and affirming that new mechanisms are being developed on a rolling basis to prevent the spread of the pandemic.
“Conditions [in Irbid] are reassuring, and we have started reaping the results of the measures that we had taken,” Faraiah said, noting that for the three days in a row, zero cases were reported in the northern city.
“We are still concerned about coronavirus hotspots in Amman, and we are working to take the necessary measures at those places and in all the governorates of the Kingdom,” he added.
