Crown Prince attends first session of Hashemite Scientific Councils

AMMAN — Deputising for His Majesty King Abdullah, HRH Crown Prince  Hussein on Friday attended the first session of the 79th  Hashemite Scientific Councils at the King Abdullah I Mosque, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The scientific councils, organised by the Awqaf Ministry, are an annual Ramadan event that features the participation of intellectuals, clerics and Sharia (Islamic law) professors from the Kingdom and other Arab and Muslim countries. 

At the session titled "Justice and Injustice" Awqaf Minister Wael Arabiyat said justice safeguards people's rights, develops the economy and contributes to curbing poverty and unemployment, while injustice has the most dangerous impact on societies.

Also speaking at the event, preacher Mohammad Al Yaaqubi explained justice from an Islamic perspective and reviewed the principles of just policy.

Several senior officials and officers, and ambassadors of Arab and Muslim countries attended the session.

Also on Friday, the Crown Prince performed the first Friday prayers of Ramadan with worshippers at the King Abdullah I Mosque.

He listened to the Friday sermon delivered by Arabyiat, in which he explained the significance of Ramadan and the role of young people in building the future

 

He also highlighted the role of religious and educational institutions in confronting extremism and the outlaws of Islam, the "Khawarej".
