AMMAN — The Crown Prince Foundation (CPF) on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding with the Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST), the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The memo entails supporting university students who are participating in the CPF initiative to launch Jordan’s first CubeSat (JY1SAT).
The agreement stipulates allowing the initiative’s students to use JUST’s facilities and providing technical support training from the university’s academic cadres to enable these students to implement “the first initiative of its kind in the Kingdom”, according to Petra.
CPF CEO Omar Masarweh expressed appreciation for JUST’s support, stressing that the cooperation will help apply the initiative according to international standards.
The CubeSat will be manufactured by a group of undergraduate engineering students from various universities during their free time, said Masarweh.
JUST President Omar Jarrah said the agreement is the first instance of cooperation between the two institutions to support innovative and pioneering projects that contribute to developing the technology sector in the Kingdom.
The JY1SAT initiative was launched by HRH Crown Prince Hussein as part of a broader vision for capacity building for Jordanian youth in various vocational, technological, leadership, social services and business fields.
