Crown Prince shares young people summer camps experience

AMMAN — HRH Crown Prince Hussein on Wednesday had a first-hand look at the experience of Al Hussein Youth Camps for Work and Building, which have set up training stations in cooperation with Haqiq (achieve) initiative launched by His Royal Highness.

The Crown Prince was briefed on the programmes at the stations, which were organised by the Youth Ministry under the slogan "the Arab Revolt… a Nation's Renaissance", according to a Royal Court statement. The training is designed to enhance volunteerism and equip the participants with leadership skills. 

The training stations also aim at instilling the values of patriotism and tolerance, as opposed to violence and extremism.

His Royal Highness commenced his tour at a training station on self-confidence, where participants were required to perform a crossing-the-river exercise, designed to promote faith in one’s self and teamwork.

At the tolerance and values station, the participants performed an exercise that required assembling wooden cubes in shapes and symbols that express positivity and encourage collective work and acceptance of others.

The Prince observed other activities at other stations that sought to strengthen commitment through silent drama, painting, poetry and calligraphy.

His Royal Highness also stopped by a scout camp, where camping as the primary activity, is utilised to improve self-reliance. 

The Prince commended the efforts of the staff at Al Hussein Youth Camps, describing the experience there as “rich” as it contributed to developing the skills of participants in various fields.  

In an interview with the Jordan News Agency, Petra, Youth Ministry official Yassin Hilayel voiced appreciation for the Crown Prince’s support for the programme.

Participant Aseel Hajahjeh said that her participation in the camps added a special experience to her life and contributed to building her personality and ability to communicate.
