AMMAN — HRH Crown Prince Hussein visited Maan on Thursday, and thanked all Jordanians for joining in the celebration of his wedding.

At a meeting with leading figures from the governorate, Crown Prince Al Hussein said Maan residents have always modelled honourable stances in service of the nation, according to a Royal Court statement.

His Royal Highness said the palace of King Abdullah I, at which the meeting was held, carries great significance for Jordanians, as it witnessed the initial steps to establish the state, and was a key milestone for the Great Arab Revolt.

The Crown Prince said the palace is part of Jordanian heritage and all share the responsibility of preserving it, noting that he will follow up on its restoration to become a major tourist destination in Maan.

Turning to the importance of Maan’s location on the pilgrimage route, His Royal Highness commended the role of the governorate’s residents in receiving pilgrims on their way to perform Hajj, the greater Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca.

Attendees welcomed the Crown Prince, and underlined the importance of the regular outreach by His Majesty King Abdullah and His Royal Highness to Jordanians across the country.

They commended His Majesty’s keenness to follow up on the progress of implementing the three modernisation tracks, lauding his principled positions towards Arab causes.

The speakers also stressed the importance of the restoration of the palace of King Abdullah I in Maan, commending the Brothers in Arms initiative to support military retirees, and stressing the need to join political parties to advocate for reform across various sectors.

They highlighted a number of concerns in the governorate, including water scarcity, and the need to focus on agriculture and attract investments to reduce unemployment among young people.
