Customs department foils cigarette smuggling attempt

AMMAN — The Jordan Customs Department (JCD) said on Sunday it has foiled an attempt to smuggle foreign-make cigarettes at the Aqaba customs post, in cooperation with security bodies at the checkpoint.
The cigarettes, totalling 951 cartons, were seized pending the payment of the fine which is around JD1 million.
