Deputising for King, Crown Prince attends Japanese emperor’s enthronement

AMMAN — Deputising for His Majesty King Abdullah, HRH Crown Prince Hussein on Tuesday attended the enthronement ceremony of Emperor Naruhito of Japan, held at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo.
The Crown Prince conveyed King Abdullah’s greetings to Emperor Naruhito, congratulating him on his accession to the throne, and wishing him and the people of Japan continued progress and prosperity, according to a Royal Court statement.
Also on Tuesday, the Crown Prince met with Japan Defence Minister Taro Kono and discussed the strategic partnership between the two countries, as well as opportunities for bolstering cooperation, especially in defence, the statement said.
The Crown Prince expressed appreciation for Japan’s efforts in pursuing of peace and stability in the Middle East, and its continued support for development efforts in Jordan.
Jordan’s Ambassador to Japan Lina Annab attended the meeting.
