AMMAN — The Northern Military Zone foiled an attempt to smuggle “large quantities” of drugs from Syria into Jordan on Tuesday morning.
A source at the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army said that the rules of engagement were applied, leading to the injury of many during their retreat into Syrian territory, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
After searching the area, personnel seized a total of 200,000 Captagon pills and 581 palm-sized sheets of hashish, which were then transferred to the relevant authorities, the source added.
The source stressed that the army will apply “full force” to thwart any illegal border crossings or smuggling attempts to protect the Kingdom’s borders.
