AMMAN — Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation Lilianne Ploumen and Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Renee Jones-Bos are scheduled to visit Jordan next Sunday, according to a Dutch embassy statement released on Thursday.

Ploumen’s one-day visit is in response to an invitation by Interior Minister Hussein Majali and Municipal Affairs Minister Walid Masri.

The minister is scheduled to tour the Zaatari Refugee Camp and the Zaatari village in Mafraq “to express solidarity with the Jordanian government and the refugees” and check on Dutch humanitarian aid, according to the statement.

“The pressure on Jordanian society is immense.

That is why the Netherlands is offering assistance to Jordan and will continue to help in the future,” the statement quoted Ploumen as saying.

The Netherlands has pledged 114 million euros in response to the Syrian crisis and to offer assistance to neighbouring countries like Jordan in hosting millions of refugees, the embassy said.
