AMMAN — The Independent Election Commission (IEC) on Saturday reminded print and broadcast journalists, as well as social media activists that the election silence period starts at 7am on Monday, noting that campaigning ends on Sunday night.
The IEC praised the cooperation of all media outlets in helping the commission implement its duties, calling on candidates to abide by the law and stop all forms of election campaigning, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The IEC noted that the Elections Law bans campaigning during the last 24 hours preceding the voting day, and that anyone who violates the decision will be held legally accountable.
