AMMAN — The body of a 29-year-old Indonesian domestic helper, who was allegedly beaten to death by her employer, is still in Jordan awaiting completion of official papers, embassy officials said Wednesday.

The victim died on August 15 after allegedly being beaten to death by her employer with a blunt object in Irbid for “disciplinary reasons”.

A post-mortem examination concluded that the victim died of a brain haemorrhage.

The pathologists detected bruises on different parts of her body that were caused by a blunt object and there were two old bruises as well.

“We are waiting for the official documents from the Jordanian government so we can send her home,” an official from the Indonesian embassy in Amman said.

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, added that the embassy here is coordinating with Jakarta to notify the family and send the body back.

“We are still trying to locate her family with the help of Indonesian officials in the capital so that we can notify them,” the official told The Jordan Times.

The victim had been working for the same family since 2009, according to the embassy official.

“We have strong faith in the Jordanian justice system and that the perpetrator will get the appropriate punishment,” the embassy official told The Jordan Times in a previous remarks.
