AMMAN — The Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission (EMRC) has detected 23 unauthorised quarries operating in Al Ruwaished. In collaboration with security authorities, these quarries have been suspended from operation and their operators have been referred to administrative authorities to initiate legal proceedings against them, in accordance with the Natural Resources Law and relevant legislations, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra. Zeyad Al Saaydeh, chairman of the EMRC Board of Commissioners, on Thursday said that this crackdown resulted from an intensive inspection campaign carried out by the commission's teams on Wednesday. These quarries were previously given an opportunity to rectify their status, which they failed to do, leading to the implementation of necessary legal measures against them, he noted.
