European ambassadors visit Petra, acquainted on projects to improve ancient city

AMMAN — Sixteen ambassadors of the European Union (EU) and other European countries, accompanied by the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Nayef Fayez, on Thursday visited Petra.
The tour was meant to discuss cooperation with the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA) and to give the authority's development plans a going-over.
During their visit to the ancient city, the ambassadors were briefed on the historical significance of the red rose city, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
PDTRA Chairman Suleiman Farajat acquainted the visiting diplomats about the role of the authority in developing the district, highlighting the importance of the visit in promoting the red-rose city in European countries.
